Pine martens can be a tough animal not only find but to photograph. Most the time I have seen them it is a flash as they dart across the road. There have been a few times I have had great encounters with them, sadly most of these are is developed areas. The sad part is what draws them to the developed areas happens to be the accessibility of food from a trash can. In this case this pair has been hanging around in this particular area due to a dumpster that was not properly sealed or cleaned after this last summer season. Typically we start seeing bison calves in late April through May. Bison calves are born a red color and will be about 35 pounds. It will take a couple months for them to turn brown and match the rest of the herd. By the time they are a year old the bison calves can be 350 pounds. ⁠

Grand Teton National Park, kidding aside, Moose can be tough to find in Yellowstone. Throughout the year I may see about 6 or 7 moose in Yellowstone. That is partially due to seasons and locations where I spend my time. The northeastern side of Yellowstone seems to be the best bet, just plan on being out early to be able to catch them. ⁠

Do you see more grizzly bears or black bears in Yellowstone? ⁠

That is a tough question, my guess would be grizzly bears. There are a few places you can go that you may see a black bear on a daily basis at a closer range. Yet in general black bears prefer more of a wooded area and grizzlies tend to me out in the open areas. So when I am scanning wide open areas I am more likely to see a grizzly. Also I have seen as many as ten grizzlies in close proximity which I have never seen that with a black bear. ⁠
